Information Systems and Support Services provide a wide range of support functions for both our staff and members systems’ staff.
Recently, we made several improvements in communications technology. We invested in a Ring Central VoIP phone system along with robust video conferencing capabilities. This effort enables management and staff to be a truly mobile workforce to serve our Members in every corner of the state.
In addition to managing and maintaining our building and electronic infrastructure, we also perform technology projects at Members’ systems offices. We continue to utilize group purchasing power to acquire computing hardware for our office and Members. New efforts to expand Wide Area Network (WAN) infrastructure within the VPPSA Members is underway.
We coordinate all meter interrogation systems within the Authority. We utilize Itron’s MV90xi meter interrogation system to perform these duties. All utility boundary ties, hydro, farm methane, and solar generation meters are included in this program.
NERC CIP Compliance
We perform all information systems support at our “Project 10” Peaking Plant. This consists of the automation control network, as well as NERC’s Computer Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance activities. We also assist other NERC compliance tasks.
