HEAT Squad is restarting its engine!
HEAT Squad offers home energy audits to Vermonters. Read below for information on how they are resuming operations.
Have you been thinking about a home energy audit to help reduce your energy costs and make your home more comfortable and affordable? The HEAT Squad home energy audits program at https://heatsquad.org/home-energy-audits/ is ready to help, with coronavirus precautions in place to reduce risks and ensure safety for both homeowner and auditor. Face to face interactions will be minimized, and masks are required. Social distancing practices will be used as well as auditor wearing a face mask, gloves, and disinfecting surfaces. After the homeowner receives their written report the day after the audit, he/she will have the opportunity to discuss with the auditor by phone or video to review recommendations, potential solutions, financing and rebate options, and next steps.
For those whose income is below 120% of median household income, Efficiency Vermont rebates just jumped to 75% of project cost, topping out at $5,500. This program begins July 1 and ends August 31. If you miss that window, rebates will go back down to up to 50% of project cost, topping out at $4,000 through Dec. 31.
Rebates for higher income folks, including second home owners, remain at up to 50% of project costs, topping out at $2,000.
Homeowners can apply for a low-interest home energy loan with HEAT Squad, as long as they income qualify and the loan closes by October 31. Efficiency Vermont will make the first 6 monthly loan payments for you up to $900, not to exceed 50% of the loan amount.
Now is a great time to begin; rebates and financing options have never been better and they will expire – so act now! To learn more and schedule your energy audit, visit HEAT Squad’s website at https://heatsquad.org/ or call 802-438-2303.
