The Village of Jacksonville is located in southern Vermont within the Town of Whitingham in Windham County. The Village and their electric company were both incorporated in 1904 to serve village and town residents. The Jacksonville Electric Copmany serves a 50 square mile service area.

The Town of Whitingham has a rich history dating back to a time when southern Vermont as part of New York. Once the town was established in 1767, the Villages of Jacksonville and Whittingham were formed as the population grew. Their first hydroelectric dam was built in the early 1900’s and formed the scenic Lake Whittingham also known as Harriman Dam.
